On the evening of January 28, 2025, the Harrison family’s lives changed forever.  That evening a loud boom shook the house and a fireball shot up the stairs from our family room downstairs. The house filled with the blackest smoke ever seen as the fire consumed everything. Luckily no one was injured, including our two dogs, and our son was away at college at the time. The room where the explosion happened is rarely empty, so the fact that it was when this happened is truly remarkable.  The firefighters were very clear to say that had anyone been in the room at the time, they would not have made it out.

Fire fighters extinguished the 4 alarm fire in a matter of minutes, but the devastation was extensive. The entire house down to the framing, as well as almost every one of our personal items, would be destroyed either by the fire or by the ensuing smoke. Since then, we have been through a long, arduous process of building back, thanks in no small part to the generosity of our family, friends, and colleagues.

Meanwhile the Harrison’s are living in a small rental home nearby.
