John Abernathy, City Manager for CSI, has been working in the trade show industry for 40 years.
In January 2017, while at work disposing of a client’s carpet, fell from the back of his box truck and broke his neck. He is paralyzed from the shoulders down and is on a ventilator. He has gone through numerous surgeries including a tracheotomy and neck surgery. He is at Shepard Spinal Hospital now where the medical staff are working to get him off the ventilator before he can be released. The doctors say they have never seen anyone make a full recovery from a break like this and it is doubtful he will ever regain the use of his arms. He will need special care, special equipment and a revamping of his home for him to live there again.
